Jon Fadem has been playing guitar since he was 13, and went on to study music at Oberlin College and Conservatory in Oberlin, OH. His biggest musical heroes are Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Beck, Sly & the Family Stone, John Coltrane, Parliament/Funkadelic, and Frank Zappa. He is a founding member, musical director, and lead guitarist for Start Making Sense, the renowned, internationally touring Talking Heads Tribute band. They have been together since 2009 and regularly tour all around the country. His original band Post Junction is a funk/rock/soul/jam band that was featured in the book ‘Jam Bands: North America’s Hottest Live Bands’. Life After Dead is a Grateful Dead tribute band, and Keystone: Jerry Garcia Tribute plays music from the Jerry Garcia Band and The Grateful Dead. Additionally, Jon often performs solo shows using a looper pedal and a wide variety of effects, to create the sound of a full band, all performed live by one person.  Some of the many artists he covers at solo shows include Stevie Wonder, The Grateful Dead, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Beatles, Bill Withers, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, and Radiohead. Jon was nominated Best Guitarist in the Lehigh Valley Music Awards for six consecutive years.

 

He has played guitar with George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Bernie Worrell from Parliament/Funkadelic and Talking Heads, Buddy Miles from Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys,  Ike Willis, Ray White and Napoleon Murphy Brock from Frank Zappa's band, Larry Graham from Sly & the Family Stone, George Porter, Jr. of The Meters, Juma Sultan and Jerry Velez from Jimi Hendrix's Woodstock band, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Ryan Stasik and Kris Myers from Umphrey’s McGee, Vinnie Amico from Moe, Mononeon, Steve Kimock, John Kimock from the Mike Gordon Band, Robert Walter from Roger Waters’ band, Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth from Snarky Puppy, Billy Martin from Medeski, Martin & Wood, Devon Allman, Project Object, and many more.
